Malawi

Malawi is a charming country nestled between Zambia, Mozambique and Tanzania in South Eastern Africa. It is fondly referred to as “The Warm Heart of Africa” for the nature of its welcoming and friendly people. Compared to its neighbors, Malawi does not receive many visitors. But this is part of its appeal. A Malawi Safari offers one an exclusive, off the beaten track experience.

The landlocked country is dominated by the alluring Lake Malawi, Africa’s 3rd largest lake. Stretching some 580km’s, the lake is dotted with quaint villages, golden sand beaches and is a scenic wonderland with its crystal clear waters, idyllic islands and surrounding landscapes. With its vastness, Lake Malawi offers an array of water sports from sailing, kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling.

Malawi’s landscapes are beautifully diverse and are made up of a range of altitudes. From the highest mountain, Sapitwa, at 3,002 meters above sea level to the lowest point at the junction of the Shire River and international boundary with Mozambique at 37 meters, Malawi is home to a variety of scenery. Green, lush country, plateaus, highlands, forests, mountains, plains, escarpments and dramatic river valleys ensure that adventure is always right around the corner in Malawi.

Whilst Malawi may not be home to the same sheer numbers of wildlife that are found elsewhere in Africa, its 11 national parks and wildlife reserves are home to a rich diversity of fauna and flora. These parks and reserves are truly unspoiled and genuine wilderness areas, perfect for your Malawi safari.

Our recommendation would be to stay on the remote Likoma, a tiny and secluded island in the middle of Lake Malawi, soaking up the African sun on and idyllic, uncrowded beach at a true gem Kaya Mawa.
